How to Get the Excavator Power Armor in Fallout 76

Feb 03, 2024

With the help of this guide, Fallout 76 players can learn how to get the Excavator Power Armor plans and mods the easy way.

Also called EXC-17, the Excavator Power Armor is a mining suit made by the Garrahan Mining Corporation in Fallout 76. It is a Radiation-resilient Power Armor designed to protect miners working in toxic environments. The prototype also guards the wearer against Physical and Electrical damage. Stat-wise, Excavator has 400 Radiation resistance, 286 Physical damage reduction, and 260 Electrical damage decrease.

It may not be the strongest Power Armor, but the Excavator has a unique utility: Mineral Ores excavated by this armor are quadrupled. The user earns 4 Ores for each Ore they mine. There’s also a bummer though. The Excavator Power Armor is a prototype, meaning that players can only craft it. There may not be a way to find its prebuilt version in Appalachia, but there are other ways to get the Excavator Power Armor in Fallout 76.

To get the Excavator Power Armor, players will need to steal its plans from the Garrahan Mining Corporation. This can be done through the Miner Miracles quest or directly through interacting with the Project Manager Terminal at the corporation’s headquarters. Once the blueprints are acquired, they'll be able to craft the Excavator at a Power Armor Station.

There’s a quest poster at Garrahan Mining’s entrance which players can read to get the Miner Miracles side quest. This short mission requires the player to search the headquarters and rewards them with the Excavator’s plans.

It’s possible to skip the Miner Miracles quest and get the Excavator blueprints directly. For that, players must kill the mobs at the Garrahan Mining Corporation, make their way into the mine through the tunnel in the basement, and interact with the Project Manager Terminal next to the office.

To craft the Excavator Power Armor, Fallout 76 players should place an empty chassis on a Power Armor Station and add all six Excavator parts. The entire set requires 36 Black Titanium, 6 Nuclear Materials, 12 Glasses, 26 Rubber, 60 Screws, 60 Springs, 38 Oils, and 30 Gears.

Players will be able to farm the materials that are needed for the Excavator Power Armor by killing Mole Miner Dredgers. They drop all the necessary ingredients, such as Black Titanium.

While the Excavator mods spawn at random locations in Appalachia, visiting Responder Vendors is the best way to get them. Vendor bot Responder at Whitespring resort and Vendor bot Chad at the amusement park sell all the Excavator modifications for a fair price.

Fallout 76 is available now for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
